Business Advantages-bak

Offered by Bolivar County and the Mississippi Delta Region

Incentives
City and County government officials, along with local business leaders, realize it is crucial to any new industry or expanding business to be able to reduce start-up costs in the first several years of operation.

Bolivar County offers several specific incentives to qualifying companies who choose to invest and do business here. Local, state and federal programs, such as the Federal Empowerment Zone designation, Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG), and Advantage Mississippi Act, allow us to offer low interest financing, income tax exemptions, employee wage rebates, and grants for new job creation and capital investment.

Federal Empowerment Zone
Bolivar County can offer industry federal tax credits in the amount of $3,000 per employee, per year, through 2009. In addition, the County can access Empowerment Zone grant funds which can be used on behalf of a company for infrastructure improvements or capital expenditures.
Mississippi Advantage Jobs Act
The Advantage Job Act allows qualifying businesses to receive up to four percent of their employees' wages back at the end of each quarter, as a rebate from the Mississippi Tax Commission.
