Citizens in the Bolivar County communities can rest assured that their community support services are there for them if they ever need them. The Cleveland Fire Department is consistently ranked "Best in State" by the Mississippi Fire Rating Bureau. Volunteer units provide fire protection in the remainder of the County. Law enforcement is provided countywide by the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department and incorporated municipalities offer the protection of full-time Police Departments. Ambulance services are available from Cleveland and Rosedale.
Electric Service – Throughout much of the 45 county area of western Mississippi, electric power is provided by Entergy Mississippi. As part of Entergy Corporation, Entergy Mississippi is tied into a substantial electric production and transmission system which covers a large part of the Southeast. Entergy Mississippi currently serves 388,000 customers. Most of Bolivar County is served by Entergy, formally known as Mississippi Power and Light. Entergy Corporation’s electric generation fuel usage is very flexible and is changed when warranted by fuel costs. Electricity is provided by 88 fossil-fueled and five nuclear generation plants. Entergy Corporation’s total owned production capacity is 22,604 megawatts, and, most importantly, reserve margins are adequate to assure a dependable source of reasonably priced electricity for the future.
Natural Gas – Natural gas will be provided by Atmos Energy. The existing 4-inch pipeline located adjacent to all industrial sites is sufficient to meet the quantity and pressure of gas required. Industrial customers normally will negotiate contracts directly with Atmos Energy.
Water Supply -- Water will be provided by the local municipality. The existing 10-inch pipeline located adjacent to all industrial sites should be sufficient to meet the quantity and pressure of water required. However, if it is determined that a 12-inch line is required, a new line can be run to your facility. Industrial customers normally will negotiate contracts directly with the local municipality. According to representatives from Baxter Healthcare, Bolivar County's largest industry, they have found the Cleveland facility to have the highest water quality of any of its U.S. plants.
Wastewater Services– The local municipality will provide wastewater services. The existing 10-inch pipeline located adjacent to all industrial sites is sufficient to handle the quantity of wastewater requested. All systems have at least 500,000 gal. per day excess capacity. All industries are required to pre-treat before discharging into the system. All systems could be expanded if needed. Industrial customers normally will negotiate contracts directly with the local area.
